HURRICANE EARL UPDATE

Tomorrow is First Friday, Dismissal will be at 1:00PM. Buses will run as usual. However, due to Hurricane Earl - there will be a no after school Sunshine Club.

Parish Picnic and Show
The Sacred Heart Church & School Parish Picnic and Hawaiian Dance Show is scheduled to be held at Washington Park in Groton at 12 noon Sunday, September 12 with the Parish Hall as backup. Grilled items and drinks are free, but we are asking parishioners to bring a salad or dessert item of their choice. As seating may be limited, please bring chairs and a small table if you have one. Please pray for good weather.

Mrs. Bev Hanson is organizing a Hawaiian Luau Dance Show, and rehearsals are being scheduled.   For information on the show, please call Mrs Hanson at 860-445-1419 or e-mail her at MsBev0643@aol.com.

Sacred Heart School is getting ready for another great year of academic excellence in a value-centered environment.  If you have not registered yet, or need any information, please contact our school at 445-0611. The following are important upcoming dates:

Monday, August 23rd, Orientation/Open House, in the school cafeteria
6:00 p.m. – New Families      7:00 p.m. – Returning Families

Tuesday, August 24th- Faculty workshops and meetings.

Wednesday, August 25th – Kindergarten and grade 6 only; 1:00 PM dismissal. Please bring lunch.

Thursday, August 26th - all grades, pre-K – 8th grade; 1:00 PM dismissal. Please bring lunch.

Friday, August 27th - all grades; 1:00 PM dismissal. Please bring lunch.

Monday, August 30th- First full day of school.  Lunch and Sunshine Club start.

Jeannine Lamothe's Retirement. After more than 43 years of dedicated service to Sacred Heart Parish and School as the Music Director, Jeannine Lamothe is retiring. Please join us for a wonderful afternoon on Sunday August 29, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. at Groton Inn & Suites to share in a Celebration of Jeannine’s Music Career at Sacred Heart and throughout the Community. For more details please read the retirement announcement.

2010-2011 Registration. The 2010-2011 registration forms are now posted. The tuition page has also been updated. The school office will close on Tuesday, June 16th, 2010 and will reopen on Wednesday, July 7th 2010. The office summer hours are Wednesdays 9:00 - 1:00 and Thursdays 9:00 - 1:00.

Connecticut Federation of Catholic School Parents. Please check out the Connecticut Federation of Catholic School Parents (www.ctfcsp.org). The website includes information on legislative initiatives that impact our Catholic schools and parents should find it very informative.

Catholic Alumni Partnership. Catholic schools are under serious financial pressure, but together we can create a new future for a system that helped us realize our own. Join the growing list of advocates and alumni intent on preserving the Catholic education system.



Box Tops for Education. Last year your help paid off big-time with $842 in cash (from 8420 box tops) and 7950 “labels for education” collected to benefit Sacred Heart School. These programs will continue at Sacred Heart School this year and I hope you will help us. Please see the Box Tops page for more information. If all our Sacred Heart families submitted only 5 box tops, our school would earn ~$1000!!
